S.Agata sui due Golfi is so- named for its particolar geographical position. In fact the village is situated near the top of a hill on the peninsula where the bays of Naples and Salerno meet.

Its mild, refreshing climate is due to the sea breezes and the coolness of the chestnut woods which surround it, making the hot summer days more bearable and allowing a soothing nights sleep.

At a short distance from the centre of S.Agata the “Oasi Olimpia Relais”  is to be found, “Il Deserto” rises at the summit of the hill, lying on the hillside which on one side slopes down to the bay of Sorrento and on the other to the waters wich surround the Galli islets, once home to the mythical Sirens. Looking out to the sea one can see the unmistakeable silhouette of the majestic island of the other side of the peninsula across the bay of  Naples, rises the profile of Vesuvius.

There are the images which pass before one’s eyes when reaching the summit of “Deserto”. One stops to admire the breathtaking panorama which surrounds them. A sight which is difficult to forget!

The “deserto”, however, does not only have one of the most beautiful panoramas in the world, but is also steeped in history and legend.
